About Reloot

Reloot (reloot.co.uk) is a general marketplace for the UK with protection built in from the first sale. Buyers pay in the app and the money is held until the item arrives. There is a 48-hour window to report a problem, and the team resolves it. In the buyer's favour that means a refund to the card they paid with, for the whole order or for part of it, and because the money has not left Reloot yet there is nothing for them to recover from the seller. Sellers keep 100% of the item price; the buyer pays a small protection fee that is shown before they pay. Delivery is collection, home delivery or an InPost locker, with labels bought in the app. Every seller has a Trade Rank from 1 to 50 that comes only from completed sales and verified-purchase reviews, and a Trusted Trader badge that cannot be bought. The Feed makes the marketplace social. Shops post new stock and updates, buyers post what they are looking for, and a ranking that learns what you browse shows each post to the people most likely to want it. Anti-spam runs in the database and ordinary members never notice it. Members are known by username; names and contact details only pass between the two sides of a sale.

Questions we get asked

How does escrow work? The buyer pays in the app. The money is held until they confirm delivery, or until 48 hours pass after dispatch with no problem reported. Then it goes to the seller. Report a problem in that window and the team resolves it. What does it cost? Listing is free and sellers keep 100% of the item price. Buyers pay a protection fee of 70p plus 5% of the first £250 and 3.5% of anything above, shown before they pay. Sellers can buy optional extras (a boost, a highlight, a bump, more photos) from 99p, and trades can take Reloot Pro at £19.99 for 30 days. Vehicle and service adverts are free while we launch, and a vehicle sale carries no buyer fee: the price is agreed and paid between the two of you. How does a seller get paid? Once, before their first sale, a seller adds their bank details through Stripe. After that every sale is sent to them automatically when the buyer has the item and the 48-hour window closes. They get the item price in full; Stripe pays it into their bank on its own schedule. Reloot never sees a bank number or an identity document. How is delivery handled? Collection, home delivery priced by parcel size, or an InPost locker for a flat £2.54. Labels are bought in the app. How do I list something? Pick the category and the type, add photos and the details that category asks for, set a price and how it can be delivered, check the preview, publish. On the website you can save it as a draft and finish it from My listings. What is the Feed? A stream of listings, shop updates and "looking for" posts, ranked by who you follow, what you browse and how near a post is, so a seller reaches buyers beyond their followers. See "How the Feed works" above. How do you stop spam? New accounts can post less and reach only their followers and people interested in that category until they verify a phone number or complete a sale. The limits run in the database, so a modified app cannot skip them. Reports from members in good standing hide content until the team looks. What about privacy? Members are known by a username. Names, emails and phone numbers are only shared between the two sides of an agreed sale, and never shown on profiles, listings or messages. Showing your town on your shop is a switch you control. How do I know when something happens? Every event has a switch under Notifications: new messages, offers, a sale, quotes, followers and Trade Rank, by email now and by push once the app is in the stores. The only marketing email is "Tips and news", and it stays off unless you turn it on. What does a seller see about their listings? Their own numbers: views, saves, offers and sales, on the Dashboard and My listings. Buyers never see view counts or a trust score, and nobody can pay to rank higher; a boost is a labelled slot, never a place in the results. What if something goes wrong? There is a help centre at reloot.co.uk/help with thirty-five articles on buying, selling, payments, delivery, services and your account. If it does not cover it, the support form reads your own account before anybody sees the message - where a payout has got to, whether an order is still inside its window, whether a parcel has tracking - and answers from it there and then. Anything it cannot settle goes straight to a person, and so does anything about safety. Are pets sold on Reloot? No. Live animals of any kind are prohibited.
